High levels of cortisol – appointed metipred
Question: Oleg! I am 27 years old. In January this year I have been frozen for the term of pregnancy 8 weeks, scraping. Endocrinologist referred me to donate blood for hormones. All hormones are normal, except for cortisol: 1037.010. Did a gynecological ultrasound and kidney – all normal. Endocrinologist appointed Metipred to 1 / 2 tablets at night, and Diane-35. Here are the results while taking Metipreda: August – 1435, 56; September – 584, 375; October – 915, 544; November – 1443, 360. Posovetkyte, please, what I do. Thanks in advance
Answer: 1. Elevated levels of cortisol is not a basis for the appointment metipreda. This medication is used to treat VDKN (see FAQ in the "Diseases of adrenal glands), and the disease is associated, on the contrary, with impaired ability of the adrenal glands to produce cortisol. 2. The level of cortisol in the blood of a variation in (on this topic, too, has a FAQ in the same section), so changes in this index during therapy just about anything not say. If the doctor suspects an excess of cortisol – should guide you to define it in the urine. If there is an opportunity – better find another endocrinologist.
